The 2010 offering of the Virginia Fire Officer Academy will be conducted on the campus of the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia June 13-18, 2010. The Virginia Fire Officer Academy is a resident course offering, therefore; if admitted you will be required to stay on campus for the duration of the academy. Successful applicants for the Virginia Fire Officer Academy will be provided tuition, meals, accommodations, and course materials.
There is a $195 fee per successful applicant. This cost covers lodging, meals and coursework.
Through a competitive selection process the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association will select forty (40) applicants to participate in this interactive learning experience. Applications for admission must be completed in their entirety and include the signature of the sponsoring agencies Fire Chief and/or department head and include an original letter of support from the Fire Chief and/or Department Head. Applications for the 2010 Virginia Fire Officer Academy are currently being accepted. Applications must be received no later than the extended deadline of March 15, 2010. Notification of selected participants will be made by April 1, 2010.

Students are selected to attend the academy through a competitive selection process. Variables considered in the selection process will include: the applicant’s rank and tenure, as well as the strength of the recommendation from the fire chief or department head. In addition, the applicant’s geographic location will be considered as we seek to ensure that this academy is representative of the entire Commonwealth of Virginia.
